Forbidden Fruits and Exile
Forbidden Fruits Films was the center of West's career, but it depended on partners. Exile Distribution handled the DVD line, putting the studio's titles into adult retailers alongside much larger labels. HotMovies and AEBN provided the streaming audience as DVD sales declined.
The arrangement let a two-person company reach a national market without owning duplication or shipping. West and Jay West controlled the creative decisions; the distributors controlled the logistics.
Girlfriends Films and Sweetheart Video
Girlfriends Films was the dominant producer of lesbian features in the 2000s and 2010s, with series such as Lesbian Seductions, Lesbian Triangles and Mother-Daughter Exchange Club. West appeared in multiple entries and later directed comparable work for her own label.
Sweetheart Video, a sister label of Mile High Media, cast her in Lesbian Hitchhiker 2. The role was a small part of her filmography but an important one: it placed her in a prestige lesbian line at a time when that market was separate from the MILF market.
Elegant Angel and the showcase economy
Elegant Angel has long specialized in performer showcases, releasing features built around a single star. Jodi West Goes Gonzo, released in August 2025, followed that model and gave West her first showcase after fifteen years in the business.
The accompanying firsts were marketed as events, which is standard practice for a showcase release. For West, the significance was simpler: a major studio was investing in her name again, at an age when the industry usually stops investing.
